Canon Digital IXUS 55 Review
The compact Canon Digital IXUS 55 is smart, slimline and gives a stylish performance.
The all-metal Canon IXUS 55 is thin enough to carry around in your pocket yet it holds the latest image processing technology. The 5 megapixel CCD sensor together with 3x UA optical zoom lens ensures high quality, crystal clear prints up to A3 in size.
Depending on memory capacity, longer quality VGA movies can be shot at 30fps with sound or at 60fps for fast action. These, together with your still images, can be shown on the generous 2.5" LCD. The LCD on the Canon IXUS 55 has a wide viewing angle so shots can be shared with others and this camera also has a choice of brightness covering night and day situations.
Movies can also be shown on a TV and images can be transferred to a PC using the USB 2.0 Hi-speed connection.
The IXUS 55's high technology includes DIGIC II image processor which when combined with iSAPS gives a fast, reactive performance with high quality images in superb colour. iSAPS will optimise your camera settings prior to taking your image, thus giving you the best selections for your particular shot.
Making a choice from the 15 shooting modes will help to achieve the best results possible with 7 preset scene modes dealing with difficult lighting decisions and My Colors allowing colour effects to be applied to both images and movies at the time of setting up.
The Canon IXUS 55, when connected to any PictBridge compatible printer will produce full colour prints in seconds with the touch of a button. Connection to a Canon SELPHY CP Series printer will also let you print ID photos and stills from your movies.
If CANON iMAGE GATEWAY is available, this will provide 100 MB of web space so that you can share your portfolio with family and friends.

As you may tell from my nickname, I come to life at night and therefore most of my pics are taken in night or low light conditions.
This camera was loaned to me for a while to see what shots I could achieve and I have been impressed. The powerful features on this camera have guaranteed high quality shots every time wherever I am, it seems to have a scene mode to suit every situation.
It is also easy to carry around, fairly simple to use and the larger screen makes shooting and playback a dream.
This is going on my gift list

My parents gave me this camera before I went on holiday and I love it.
It is such a small camera that you wouldn't think it could possibly have all the features that it does. My pictures have been a huge improvement on those I have taken in the past, they are really clear and the colour is very true to life.
I do know how much it cost and can therefore truly say that this camera is great value for money.

An exceptional camera. Compact but with lots of features, easy to use, ready quickly with a good size screen for shooting and playback. Results are impresssive both in colour and precision of image even when taken in low light conditions. Best camera of its type that I have used to date.

As a family, we have always used Canon cameras so I automatically chose this as a treat for myself after landing my new job. This is a great camera for the money and has not let the Canon reputation for quality down in any way. It is a useful size, intuitive to use and with its quick start up and automatic settings I normally shoot what I intended to shoot. I can't fault the quality of my pics as the colour is strong and the image is very clear. Recommended
