Canon Digital IXUS 60 Review
The Canon Digital IXUS 60 has a stainless steel body, is classically styled, slender and holds precision optics with high technology features.
The 3x UA optical zoom lens gives a crystal clear performance whilst the 6 megapixel CCD sensor takes in enough detail to be able to produce large high quality prints. The ISO 800 and high ISO auto settings within the Canon IXUS 60 also let you shoot indoors or in low light conditions without the need of a flash and when shooting at higher shutter speeds the risk of a blurred image is reduced.
The high tech DIGIC II processor within the IXUS 60 means that quality image processing is achieved because of the speedy camera performance with the iSAPS technology making the analysis of a scene for you in order that the relevant settings are selected before the button is pressed.
Alongside this, the Canon IXUS 60 gives a choice from a range of 16 shooting modes, the special scene modes include underwater, foliage and beach, where the camera assists by selecting the correct format for each scene. My Colors allows colour effects to be applied both before and after the shot is taken.
With the IXUS 60 stills can be shot in widescreen for playback on a widescreen TV or for printing onto wider paper, particularly useful for panoramic shots.
The Canon IXUS 60 will shoot longer VGA movies (depending on memory capacity available) at 30fps with sound and at 60fps for QVGA movies. Images can be viewed on the large 2.5" LCD screen which has a wide viewing angle for group viewing and a choice of brightness.
When the Canon IXUS 60 is connected to any PictBridge or Canon Direct Print compatible photo printer, quality prints can be run off in seconds at the touch of a button. If CANON iMAGE GATEWAY is available, this will provide 100 MB of web space for your personal photo gallery and the relevant software is included in the package.

A good camera. I like especially its robustness. I lost already two cameras after two minor accidents, The Sony P7 or 9 (do not remember) was irreparably damaged after a very slight hitting of an airplane chair in front of me. A Canon 50 fell from 15 cm on a wooden table and was also gone.
Mt IXUS 60 has survived much more than this, it has dropped withour its bag out of my pocket on a stone floor and nothing was wrong. Now it looks somwhat battered but it still works perfectly. I never had a digital camera so long.
Contrary to other cameras I had the digital screen is still perfect.
Negative: the signs on the buttons are disappearing fast.
I have not find a way to force the flash. In exceptional circumstances I want to use the flash even when the camera decides I should not.
The quality of the pictures is very very good.

We wanted a smaller camera to take on holiday with us so, having looked around, decided that this would be the one to take. Took lots of photos, the quality has been excellent and the only criticism we have is the red-eye one. This camera offers a lot of flexibility including several manual adjustments such as picture effects - we had fun with these. It also has a grid line feature which lets you compose your shot more precisely with good result. We also took some very good video shots and found it worthwhile purchasing a 2GB card for this. Now we are back from holiday, I don't think that this camera will be put away until next year, it is too much fun.
