The titanium body of the Canon IXUS 960 IS fits easily in the hand whilst the touch control dial offers easy access to the various functions available.

This camera has 12.1 megapixels, ideal for the larger print, 3.7 optical and 4x digital zoom.

The optical zoom lens includes optical image stabiliser technology which compensates for camera shake and an ultra high refractive aspherical index (UA) to achieve images of high quality. The safety zoom and tele-converter can provide extra zoom magnification without loss of quality.

The Canon IXUS 960 IS has 18 shooting modes including indoor, fireworks, beach, underwater, night and kids & pets where optimum settings have been preselected and My Colors, which can be applied during and after shooting, and includes; light/dark skin tone, vivid, black & white, sepia and neutral. ISO sensitivity equivalents are; auto, high ISO auto, 80/100/200/400/800/1600; flash modes include auto, manual on/off, slowy sync and red-eye reduction; White balance has auto, cloudy, tungsten, daylight, custom and fluorescents. DIGIC III processor with face detection AF/AE/FE ensures a quick response and quality images with face detection and iSAPS detecting faces in the frame and selecting the optimum exposure, focus and flash settings.

This camera has a real-image zoom, optical viewfinder and a 2.5" Purecolor LCD screen that has an anti-glare, scratch resistant coating for improved visibility and durability. Still images are stored as JPEG (Exif2.2), DCF and DPOF with movies as AVI Motion JPEG +WAVE. VGA movies can be taken on long play, using half the usual memory card space and there is a time lapse movie mode for taking scenes and then accelerating playback as smooth video (a flower opening for example). The Canon IXUS 960 IS is compatible with SD/SDHC/MMC/MMCplus/HCMMCplus memory cards with a 32MB memory card supplied with the camera.

The Canon IXUS 960 IS is PictBridge compatible and is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery NB-5L which has an approximate life of 240 shots/360 min. playback.
