Canon EOS 30D Review

The Canon EOS 30D has a strong magnesium body and is capable of stretching your creative talents.

With 8.2 megapixels CMOS sensor, the Canon EOS 30D will produce images that are clean with fine detail and excellent colour. DIGIC II and the Picture Style image processing offer different colour responses with sharpness, saturation and tone being changeable within each setting.

The EOS 30D has a pentaprism viewfinder with an approximate coverage of 95% together with a bright 2.5" TFT LCD giving approximately 100% field of view for JPEG images. Images are stored as JPEG/Exif 2.21/DCF/DPOF.

The Canon EOS 30D is ready to use in 0.15 seconds and can be powered by rechargeable Li-ion batteries; BP-511/BP-511A or BP-512/BP-514. A BP-511A is supplied with the camera and battery life is approximately 750. The battery check is automatic and power will turn itself off after 1,2,4,8,15 or 30 minutes.

Having high precision 9-point wide-area AF, the Canon EOS 30D gives a choice of one of nine fixed focus points to ensure better results are achieved, this also works with composition and off-centre subjects. The ISO equivalent is 100 - 1600 and this can be expanded to 3200 when selected in Custom Function, White Balance offers; auto, shade, cloudy, daylight, fluorescent, tungsten, custom and flash. Flash modes include auto, manual on/off and red-eye reduction. The EOS 30D also offers Other modes that include auto, landscape, portrait, close-up, night portrait and sports.

The Canon EOS 30D is PictBridge compatible and the package includes Digital Photo Professional software.
