Canon PowerShot A95 Review
The Canon PowerShot A95 digital camera has easy-to-follow controls which will be appreciated by first time users, whilst advanced users will be interested in the extensive features offered by this great performer.
Being fully automatic for day-to-day shots, and offering a host of manual functions and accessories for your creative side, the PowerShot A95 has the power and resolution to deliver exceptional shots under any conditions. It can be fully automatic for day to day shots or it can offer manual functions for the more artistic photographer.
When ready to point and shoot, the 9-point AiAF (Artificial intelligence Auto Focus) ensures sharp focus, even with off-centre subjects. However, when you want to take control, FlexiZone AF/AE lets you select the focus and exposure point.
This digital camera offers 14 different shooting modes ranging from fully manual to fully automatic with 8 special scene modes, examples of these being Foliage, Snow, Beach and Fireworks. These modes can help you attain excellent results in tricky conditions.
The Canon PowerShot A95 also has a Movie mode, which allows you to record VGA video clips with playback either in-camera or directly to your TV.
The precision 3x optical zoom, a quality lens, lends flexibility with shot composition resulting in quality images. Macro mode allows pictures to be taken only 5cm from your subject and its large aperture is great for low light conditions or to create an attractive background blur when used in portrait mode.
The Canon PowerShot A95 has a high-resolution 5.0 Megapixel sensor which delivers outstanding quality prints to A3 as iSAPS has already analysed the scene and made adjustments before the shutter release is pressed.
The versatility of the large 1.8" vari-angle LCD, because it can twist in various directions, encourages you to shoot from a variety of positions.
Optional accessories include: tele converter, wide converter, close-up lenses, a waterproof case for use in depths up to 40m and rechargeable batteries.
Providing you have either a Canon Direct Print or PictBridge compatible photo printer, your colour photographs, can be printed in seconds by pushing the Print/Share button. If ID photographs are required then connection will need to be made to a Canon Compact Photo Printer.
This Canon PowerShot A95 also comes with its own software suite, which will allow you to download, edit and organise your photos, stitch images together to create panoramas and build slide shows with sound and commentary.
CANON iMAGE GATEWAY provides 100MB of free web space for your own online photo gallery, however this facility is not available in all countries.

This was my first digital camera purchase and not being particularly 'techy', I was very impressed with how quickly I was able to feel comfortable using the PowerShot A95.

The PowerShot A95 is a great camera for the money, with 5 Megapixels and 3 x Optical Zoom. The purple fringing is hardly noticeable even on shots with really contrasting colours. I was a little dissapointed with the layout of the buttons, but the image quality more than makes up for that. The LCD is a good size and is great for taking shots at a difficult angle. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a point and shoot digital camera.

I bought this as a second camera to compliment my SLR, and overall I am very impressed, while not up to the standard of an SLR it manages to take some very decent shots, and is compact enough to carry in your pocket. I particulary like the vari angle LCD screen which is clear and bright, even on sunny days, and the scene mode allows anyone to take great looking photos. And its a Canon, what more can you say.

The A95 has loads of features including the 8 scene modes allowing you to take great pics without having to know what all the settings mean, although they are there if you do want to play around with them. The 9 point Focusing seems to do a good job, even in low light conditions. Overall a great camera for the money.

The Canon PowerShot A95 is a very competent camera for the money, the scene modes allow anyone to use the correct settings for any type of shot, while you can manually configure most of the settings if you want to experiment. The picture quality is above average compared to other cameras I have seen in this price range. The flip out LCD is a great addition and is large and bright allowing great shot composition from any angle. The 9-point AiAF seems to do a good job of Focusing the image even in low light, and the flash has quite a good range. The 32Mb Compact Flash card included will need upgrading, but is more than you get with some cameras. The A95 runs on AA batteries so you will have no trouble finding replacements if you run out of power. The one thing that I felt could be better is the zoom range, but you can upgrade with a tele-converter if you want.

I was a bit dissapointed with the overall feel of this camera, also I thought the image quality was'nt up to some of the photos my friends have taken on similarly priced cameras, especially when taking photos indoors.
