Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z1080 Review

The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z1080 is a 10 megapixel compact camera that can produce pictures of high quality which can be cropped, printed poster size and zoomed without any loss of precision.

High resolution photographs and widescreen TV quality videos can be made and the movie clips can be easily and quickly uploaded onto YouTube, using software provided, so that they can be viewed worldwide.

This camera as 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom (12x total zoom in combination) with 7 lenses in 5 groups including aspherical lens. By using faster shutter speeds and and higher sensitivity, the AntiShake DSP function within the Casio EX-Z1080 compensates for blurring due to shaky hands or moving subjects. Focus modes include auto, macro, pan, infinity, manual, contrast detection auto focus and AF assist light; focus ranges are manual, normal and macro. Recording modes offer a BEST SHOT mode which has 41 preselected scenarios to select from, still images, still with audio and movie with audio.

The Exilim EX-Z1080 has an inbuilt memory of approximately 11.4MB and a card slot which can take SD/SDHC/MMC/MMCplus. It is powered by a rechargeable Super Life lithium-ion battery (NP-40) which has a charge life of approximately 370 images, continuous playback of just under 10 hours and continuous movie recording of approximately 2 hours 40 minutes. Flash functions are auto, rapid flash, soft flash, red-eye reduction, off and on, ISO sensitivity has; auto, 80/100/200/400/800/1600/3200 with ISO 800 used with AntiShake or 1600 when used with AntiShake BEST SHOT mode. White Balance has 6 fixed modes, auto and manual.

Images can be viewed and played back on the Super Bright 2.6" widescreen digital TFT colour LCD and playback functions include; still image, 12 image display, slideshow, movie (playing and editing), calendar, rotation and copying, resizing and trimming.

Accessories include; battery, battery charger, CD-ROM, USB cable, AV cable, AC power cord and wrist strap and the Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z1080 weighs approximately 125g without battery and measures 91.1 x 57.2 x 24.2mm.

Recently purchased the EX-Z1080 and have been very impressed with ease of use and good quality results. The camera feels solid and has a clear, bright display with easy-to-use controls. I was looking for a good quality point-and-shoot and this camera has proved to be the ideal choice (chosen after having read many internet reviews before purchasing) Highly recommended.
