Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z110 Review

The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z110 with 6 megapixels and a total of 12x zoom (3x optical and 4x digital) is not only easy to use but is also fun.

This camera offers a lot of choice as, in addition to offering fully adjustable manual settings, it also has a feature called BestShot which allows you to choose from 28 predefined scenarios. This means that if you select the appropriate mode for your shot the relevant settings will already have been set for you, enabling you to achieve great photographs without too much expertise.

The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z110 has a 2" digital TFT colour LCD which shows your shots clearly and offers recording modes such as still image, still image with audio, voice recording, macro and movie mode. Unlimited AVI (Motion JPEG) movies with audio can be shot with length depending upon the battery and memory life available at the time. There is a card slot for SD/MMC.

Focus modes with the Exilim Zoom EX-Z110 include manual, auto, macro, contrast AF, pan and infinity with ranges of; manual from 6cm, normal from 40cm and macro between 6 and 50cm.

The Casio EX-Z110 flash system consists of flash on, flash off, auto and red eye reduction with ISO sensitivity up to 400, automatic or manual switching. The maximum ISO of 1600 applies when using Anti-Shake or High Sensitivity, Anti-Shake eliminating the blurring of images caused by shaky hand or moving subjects. White balance choices are; manual, auto and 6 modes in fixed.

Two AA batteries power the Casio Exilim EX-Z110, alkaline, NimH or lithium and the camera is ready to go after 1.6 seconds with a shutter release lag time of 0.01 second. High speed image playback scrolls at 100 images in 10 seconds.

Playback on the Casio EX-Z110 offers a 9 image display, calendar, reverse, favourites folder, movie, rotation and images can be deleted singly or in total.

Another useful feature on the EX-Z110, which is mainly for beginners, is the Easy Mode. This offers a shorter onscreen menu of selected modes which will ensure high quality results at the touch of a button.

An AC adaptor is included within the Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z110 package.

This seemed to be the camera for me as I wanted to have adjustable manual settings but also wanted to have a choice of scene modes to help me out. The Z110 has turned out to be a good, affordable choice though not quite so good at indoor shots.
