Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z600 Review
The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z600 is compact and stylish with user-friendly functions which enable you to take excellent quality photographs and movies at any time.The battery life in the Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z600 has been extended to achieve approximately 550 shots per charge using a super life rechargeable lithium-ion battery (NP-40). Images can be easily and quickly (intervals of 0.1 seconds) seen on the large 2.7" LCD which is easily viewed in bright conditions outdoors and which will automatically adjust itself to the prevailing light conditions.
The EXILIM engine within the Casio EX-Z600 features the Anti Shake DSP which together with the quick shutter functions and auto macro goes towards eliminating blurred photos caused by shaky hands or by shooting moving subjects.
Other useful choices housed within the Exilim Zoom EX-Z600 are; Revive Shot which means that shots taken of old photographs will have their colour digitally enhanced automatically to give them another lease of life and BestShot which offers a choice of 32 different scene selections where settings have been adjusted automatically to suit particular scenarios.
Flash selections within the EX-Z600 include flash on, flash off, red eye reduction, soft and auto as well as an additional Rapid Flash function which can take three consecutive high speed photos in one second.
The Casio Exilim EX-Z600 focus choices are manual, pan, auto, infinity, contrast AF, AF assist light and macro mode with ranges of; normal from 40cm, infinity from 15cm and macro between 15 and 50cm.
There are six fixed white balance modes, manual and auto with ISO between 50 and 400 with a sensitivity of 800 when using Anti Shake or High Sensitivity.
As well as high quality pictures, the Exilim EX-Z600 also takes high quality movies in VGA at 30fps (Motion JPEG), length dependent upon memory capacity and battery life. Movies can then be edited, zoomed in during playback or converted into one or nine images for printing.

I was looking for an upgrade to my Fuji 3mp camera which had served me well over the last couple of years as the image quality just didn't stack up when put on my 32" LCD TV.
The Z600 was on special offer at Jessops (even cheaper on their web site - they let me have the 'web' price in store). Bought it for only £135 and added a 1gb SD card from Amazon for only £16.
Overall, I am very pleased with the camera as it fills almost all of my key requirements:
- Stylish design.
- Small and lightweight.
- Huge 2.7" LCD screen.
- Amazing battery life!
- 32 'Best Shot' modes.
- Almost instant power up time.
- Very little shutter lag.
On the down side, a couple of minor niggles:
- Cradle has to be used for recharging - would have preferred just a charging lead.
- No case included.
Would definitely recommend, particularly now that the Z600 has been replaced by the Z700, there should be some real bargains to be found if you don't need the extra 1mp.

My niece was having a beach wedding in Mauritius so as my current camera was a bit on the old side, I bought a new one to be on the safe side, I didn't want to miss this special event.
Because it is so small it is no problem to carry around and I was amazed at the battery life, it lasted all week. It also powers up quickly so I was ready to record some amusing moments - there are always some aren't there.
We all now have some wonderful photos of this happy event.

After researching, I was left to make a choice between three different makes of camera and chose the Z600 because I felt that this one would be the best all round choice.
It is certainly good value for money and produces good quality results. It can be ready quickly and the battery life is extremely good.
The anti shake feature is a definite bonus as are the best shot modes which cover the types of scene I am interested in photographing.
