I have this camera for about a year now, firstly its easy to use, the quality of the pictures are fantastic to say the least, However
and yes their is a BUT
The battery life is abismal to say the least, i get about 15-20 shots on fully charged and its got the point where i carry 4 sets around with me. If you like to view the picture when you have taken one be warned the battery life is even less.
For me i am dissapointed, fuji recommend 200nimh i have 2700 and its still no use.
I would not recommend this camera for that one reason which is a shame because the quality of pics is fab. I am now looking to replace this camera and i will be moving away from fuji having always preferred them in the past suchn is my loss of confidence.

Jessops had A700 on offer at £100, so I grabbed it. It comes with a camera case, 2 Fuji 2000mAH Ni-MH rechargeable AA batteries, a Fuji battery charger, software and cables to link it up to the computer and a TV.
Camera is great but I found the battery life is pretty short. Although the manual says that the 2000mAH rechageable Ni-MH batteries should be good for about 300 frames, it does not hold water with my camera. Something does not seem to be right as far as battrey usage is concerned. Is my camera faulty? I wonder!
I think Fuji Film ought to recall A700 to rectify the battery drainage problem. Sorry,Fuji - get your finger out and save your reputation!

I bought the Fuji A700 as a lightweight addition to take backpacking, travelling, instead of my heavier, but excellent Canon Powershot A70.
I am very disappointed with the Fuji A700 primarily because it has VERY poor battery life. I was getting from 25-50 frames on 2 AA batteries. This is unacceptable in my opinion. I would return it if i could.
Picture quality is only fair compared to my Canon.

the fujifilm a700 takes a good quality picture with an easy to use menu but it doesn't have too many features and the battery life is pretty bad

I have been using a Fuji A300 Superzoom 2mp for about 4 years and its been great. On this basis I bought the A700 and it has been a real disappointment. The pictures are blurred, it cannot handle light conditions and there is no depth of colour in the pictures.
You can stuff a camera with as many features as you like but if it does not fulfill its basic task i.e. take a decent picture then it is a waste of time.

I was saving up for the model above this one, however Jessops decided to knock £100 for this, so I grabbed it. It comes with a camera case, 2 rechargeable AA batteries, a battery charger, software and cables to link it up to the computer and a TV.
I was disappointed to see that I needed to by a special Fuji memory card, a 256mb one can cost around £30 in the shops (I bought a 1GB card from eBay for £20). Fortunately one of the benefits of this camera is that it has some internal memory space so even if you don't have a memory card or fill it up, you can take from 2 to 93 photos (depending on the picture quality you select).
This camera is very easy to use; turn it on and press the button, it also does not have a hundred different buttons or unnecessary features, such as using it to take photos in the dark whilst listening to music under water.
The screen is nice and big, the layout of the buttons are straightforward and it has a couple of useful options such as video mode (time varies on the amount of free memory), playback feature and 5 & 10 second timers. There are also 2 zoom options: (1) bog standard and (2) digital - the latter makes the picture clearer.
Although the manual is 5 times thicker than it needs to be with a whole bunch of useless information, it does tell you exactly how to make the most of the features so is worth a read. If you're not sure about the model you want, you can also read the manual online to decide if it suits you.
Another benefit is the ready to use rechargeable batteries, which means you save a fortune. The batteries also last longer than in other cameras I've had and if you're not using them for a while, the camera also allows you to completely discharge them.
The only negative point I have on this camera is that the feel of the buttons don't fill me with confidence; they are a bit small and delicate and the main button used to take the photos feels a bit wobbly, but with the different guarantees Fuji provides, it won't cost the earth to protect the camera in case the button does fall off.
On the whole I think this camera meets the expectations and needs of someone who wants to take simple, clear, everyday photos to print of on the home computer hassle free.
