Fuji FinePix S100FS Review
The Fuji FinePix S100FS will certainly suit, in particular, those photographers who have a great interest in nature as it has an extended Dynamic Range. The 11.1 megapixel Super CCD VIII HR and the new image processor open up the dynamic range to prevent under or over exposure resulting in great tonal expression. The range offers 100/200/400%, with 100% showing a strong contrast between dark and light and 400% showing the gradual changes in colour.Digital zoom is 2x and Fujinon optical zoom lens is 14.3x. Focus modes include auto focus, manual focus and continuous AF with AF assist light available, with ranges of normal, macro and super macro.
The Fuji FinePix S100FS has an electronic viewfinder and a 2.5" amorphous silicon TFT colour LCD with 100% coverage. Playback functions offer Face Detection, multi-frame, slide show, trimming, rotation and date sorting. Video output is NTSC/PAL selectable. Still images are stored as JPEG (Exif Ver 2.2) and movies as AVI (motion JPEG with sound), WAVE format. Movies are recorded as 640x480 - 30fps and 320x240 - 30fps with monaural sound.
An NP-140 Li-ion battery powers the Fuji S100FS which has an internal memory of approximately 25MB and can take xD-Picture Card, SD/SDHC memory cards. Preset scene modes are available where settings have already been preselected to suit certain situations and these include; portrait, baby, night, snow, beach, sunset, fireworks and sport. Other modes are nature, nature soft or vivid, flower, film simulation bracketing and custom setting position.
The Fuji FinePix S100FS measures approximately 133.4 x 93.6 x 150.4 and without batteries weighs 918g.
