Fuji FinePix S3 Pro Review
The Fuji FinePix S3 Pro digital SLR camera has 12 megapixels (a unique double photodiode structure of 6 S-pixels and 6 R-pixels capturing the finest detail) with Super CCD SR II and including a number of professional controls developed especially for the FinePix S3 Pro. The quality combination of Nikon interchangeable lens and Fujifilm image capture is one that has stood the test of time.
File format is JPEG-DCF (Exif ver.2.2) with storage on xD-Picture Card and CF/Microdrive. The viewfinder is a fixed eye level pentaprism with built-in diopter adjustment giving approximately 94% frame coverage and images can be viewed on the 2" LCD monitor which gives approximately 100% coverage.
The Fuji S3 Pro has two film simulation modes - F1 giving a softer feel and F2 giving high saturation and high contrast images. A colour choice is also offered, sRGB and Adobe RGB, to ensure that the best colour is produced for the particular image.
Power is provided by 4 x AA type Ni-MH batteries, with an AC power adaptor AV-5VX available as an optional extra, and the S3 Pro is ready to shoot immediately (half a second).
The FinePix S3 Pro has the addition of a second shutter release button which is located on the body of the camera and which assists when shooting vertically, shutter speed is 30 sec to 1/4000 sec.
White balance in the S3 Pro is automatic or manual in shade, fluorescent x 3, incandescent, fine and custom x 2 with ISO sensitivity equivalent of 100/160/200/400/800/1600.
The Fuji FinePix S3 Pro has built-in flash with modes including red-eye reduction with light indicating when flash is fully-charged.
The weight of the S3 Pro is approximately 815g without lens and batteries and it comes with Fujifilm's HS-V2 Hyper Utility software which gives you the opportunity to achieve maximum performance.

Ive used canon and nikon and as far as value for money this camera tops them all, It is very simple to use with direct control for A,S and M functions (you can use it with your eyes closed). There are no lengthy LCD menus to trawl through. Picture quality is fantastic and the colours in F2 simulation is a very good representation of the high colour fuji film. The density of the pixels having R and S type do allow larger prints up to 20" x 30" so I would suggest the 12mega pixel claim is a fair one. All round great camera.

I use this camera in my studio as I have found that it will produce excellent colour shots. It is certainly the best camera I have used for portrait and wedding work but I don't believe it would be the best for action photography.

This camera has served me well for my studio portrait work as colour and image are extremely good. Whether it is a true 12 megapixel is debatable, I would put it more around 8 megapixels myself.
