Fuji FinePix Z2 Zoom Review

5.1 megapixel Super CCD HR, 3x optical and 5.7 digital zoom and a 0.6 second start up time, ensures the Fuji FinePix Z2 Zoom delivers quality results quickly. This camera has a wrap-around aluminium casing and is available in black, red, silver and white.

The Fuji FinePix Z2 Zoom is powered by an NP-40 rechargeable battery and an AC adaptor is included in the package together with an AC05VX available as an optional extra. Images are stored on xD-Picture Card TM as still (JPEG9Exif Ver 2.2) and movie (AVI (Motion JPEG)).

VGA movies are shot - 640 x 480 resolution at 30fps and images can be viewed on the 2.5" low temperature polysilicon TFT LCD monitor that has approximately 100% coverage. Playback can be as single frame or multi-frame.

White Balance has automatic and manual with manual choices of fine, shade, fluorescents x 2 and Incandescent and the Fuji Z2 Zoom sensitivity is auto and the equivalent of ISO 64/100/200/400/800/1600. The FinePix Z2 Zoom has a built in flash offering auto, red-eye reduction, forced flash and suppressed synchro.

The Fuji FinePix Z2 Zoom is auto focus and has preset shooting modes of normal: auto, scene position (portrait, landscape, sports, night and natural light) and colour modes of black & white, standard and chrome.

I have been consistently amazed at the quality of the pictures this little camera produces. It lasted for a week on holiday without being recharged and in that time I took around 600 pictures (stored on the 2GB XD card). It is very solidly built with it's metal casing which looks very sleek. The cradle makes charging it and connecting it to a PC an absolutle doddle. The colours it captures should really belong to pictures from a camera casting twice the price. I can't remommend it highly enough.

I haven't had the opportunity to use this a great deal but have been pleased with results so far. It is fine for straightforward photography, nice small size and good price
