Kodak EasyShare V530 Review

The Kodak EasyShare V530 digital camera comes in four great colours, Midnight Black, Silver Essence, Red Shimmer and Absolute Pink - something for everyone.

Although small in size, the V530 is large in capacity with features to suit many requirements.

The 5.0 Megapixel together with the 3x optical zoom lens will deliver great prints of up to 50 x 75 cm that have exceptional clarity and precision.

Colour quality will surprise you, this is due to the Colour Science Chip within this V530 digital camera which gives accurate reproduction of colour.

Other image enhancing features are the digital red-eye reduction, cropping and blurring warning.

Scene modes are there for you to select from in order to enhance your image. To help you with your own particular choice of scene, the modes available include: fireworks, flower, museum/manner, snow, beach, party, children and backlight.

The 5.0 cm high resolution colour display enables you to view your picture, even in bright conditions and, because it has a 70° wide viewing angle, you will be able to share with others.

Another excellent feature is the automatic rotation that you lets you view your pictures right-side up without moving the camera.

For those who like to take videos, the Kodak EasyShare V530 is capable of producing TV quality continuous digital MPEG-4 video with audio and the video cables for hook-up to your TV are included in the package.

If you wish to zoom in whilst taking your video, don't worry about camera shake as this is dealt with by the digital image stabilisation within the camera.

Sharing is easy as the V530 is part of the KODAK EASYSHARE system. So, if you have a picture you would like to share, select it by using the on-camera share button and it is then ready to print or e-mail later.

The software for KODAK EASYSHARE is included within the camera package and offers an easy way to organise, edit, print or view on your computer.

Optional accessories include the Printer Dock Series 3. This can be used with or without a computer to create borderless prints up to 10 x 15 cm in just over a minute. It will also transfer pictures and charge your camera's battery.

Difficult to choose which colour to have but I plumped for Absolute Pink in the end, it is a very sociable camera as it certainly attracts attention.

I have found the V530 to be a great all-round camera and have taken good shots in a variety of conditions. It fits in my pocket and has good battery life so I can always have it with me rather than saying - Oh I wish I had my camera with me.

If your subjects normally suffer from red-eye, then the V530 will be your friend for life. It is comforting to now have a normal family rather than aliens. This is a good looking, compact camera which also has an excellent video mode. Although small it certainly has enough features to keep me happy and I love experimenting with the scene modes. Image quality is good and colour is surprisingly good.

A very easy camera to operate, perfect size for taking with you, produces good photographs even when close-up, good looking. My only worry is that it might be a bit flimsy if I happen to drop it but as long as I remember to use the wrist strap then hopefully this will be avoided. It is also simple to look at my pictures on the V530 because they automatically rotate and they all come up the right way up, no neck-craning antics. You also don't have to worry about blurring because your hand is shaking a little, the camera compensates for this itself.

I have been amazed at the quality of pictures I have been able to produce with this little camera. The images are very sharp and the colours are natural and all this from a moderately priced camera.

Very pleased with the battery life, seems to be better than my friends have experienced with their cameras.

All in all, the V530 is trendy, compact and should go on your next birthday present list.

Finding the V530 easy to use with great results, I have invested in the Printer Dock so that I can produce my prints without having to be with my computer. It is also useful that the dock acts as a battery charger although the batteries have quite a good life anyway. Lots of great features and scene modes to play with, you can take chances because you know you have a good back-up and, if you don't like the result, you can erase it.

My partner and I have made a couple of videos of our little boy as he is just starting to walk and these have been excellent. It's great to see them on the TV screen, you wouldn't think that a small camera could also be a good camcorder.
