Nikon Coolpix 4600 - UK Digital Camera Review

Nikon Coolpix 4600 Review

The Coolpix 4600 is an affordable camera which is fun to use. The 4.0 megapixels and 3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor lens will help you to produce excellent photographs from five colour options: standard, vivid, black and white, sepia and cyanotype.

If a first time user, you will find the Help button particularly useful and this will guide you through the various menu functions.

With the 16 Scene Modes to choose from in the 4600 you cannot help but produce good photography as these calculate which settings are needed for your particular shot. The latest addition in this camera being the Underwater mode.

The 4 Scene Assist functions also let you frame your chosen subject to the best advantage whilst the Best Shot Selector will automaticaly detect the best picture from ten similar images you have taken.

Another extremely useful feature is the Red-Eye Fix which will automatically make the necessary adjustments to your picture to eliminate this problem.

If you find that your images are under exposed, the D-lighting, which is within the Coolpix 4600, will rectify this without having to use a computer.

The batteries that come with the Coolpix 4600 have a long life and both rechargeable and disposable batteries can be used.

just got my coolpix and really pleased with pic quality and the ease with which it can be used. Even my 4 year old takes good pics with it. For a first time user of a digital camera, i would recommend this to anyone. For the more techy person, probable too basic.

Not impressed by the Coolpix 4600, unusual for Nikon.

Main downside is that it takes too long for the flash to load, picture to load, camera to reload and to take the picture itself!

This camera is so easy to use that I didn't have to read the manual, learnt as I went along. The Coolpix 5600 is nice and small, sturdy, and the quality of images produced by this small digital camera is amazing. I also found the installation of the software to be easy as well. Battery life is good but I thought that rechargable would have been supplied.

Very good all round camera that would suit most people.

The Coolpix 4600 was given to me as a present and was not my own choice of camera. Overall I have been pleased with the camera but just a couple of things niggle - it takes a while for both the flash and the picture to load. Having said that, it does produce excellent pictures and it is easy to use almost without instruction. I have been impressed enough in that I will probably choose a higher-end of the market Nikon next time.

Bought a Coolpix 4600 for my parents for their anniversary as it was a good name and affordable. Mum and Dad have not had a lot of experience in photography but they have found the 4600 to be so easy to use and have managed to produce some great photos - you wouldn't think that they were comparative beginners.

The red-eye fix has been a bonus because they have a dog and two cats who when previously photographed have had scary red eyes. This turned out to be a very acceptable present.

The main reason I bought my Coolpix 4600 was so that I could take photos to send home whilst I was on a year's contract in Hong Kong.

So far I have been extremely pleased with my purchase, it goes everywhere with me and the photo quality is superb. It has been extremely easy to use without having to refer to the manual too often and has good battery life.

Certainly worth buying.
