Nikon Coolpix P50 - UK Digital Camera Review

Nikon Coolpix P50 Review

The Nikon Coolpix P50 has a classic look and is comfortable in the hand with its solid grip. Sharp images are achievable with the 8.1 megapixel resolution, 3.6x zoom-Nikkor lens and 4x digital zoom and the Expeed image processing engine offering optimum results.

The 28mm wide angle capability also offers more flexibility with group portraits or landscapes.

The mode dial offers swift and easy access to exposure modes thus offering greater control over results achieved. Up to the minute technology includes; electronic vibration reduction feature which combats the effects of camera shake and better results in low light conditions and the advanced face-priority AF which gives more accurate exposure for up to twelve faces in a frame. ISO sensitivity equivalents are; 64/100/200/400/800/1600/2000/auto. High sensitivity up to 2000 reduces the risk of blurry images by enabling faster shutters speeds.

The Nikon P50 has an optical viewfinder for use when an LCD monitor is not the best option. Images are stored either in the internal memory of approximately 52MB or on SD memory cards and can be viewed on the 2.4" TFT LCD which has an anti-reflective coating. The Nikon Coolpix P50 can be powered by alkaline, lithium or oxyride AA batteries or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries, the AA alkaline batteries having an approximate life of 140 shots. Being able to use AA batteries means that your camera should never have to be out of action because of a flat battery.

Silver and Black are the colours available, the dimensions are approximately 3.8" x 2.6" x 1.8" and the Nikon P50 weighs approximately 5.6oz.
