Nikon Coolpix P5100 Review

The Nikon Coolpix P5100 comes in black, it is solid but, at the same time, light in weight with a comfortable rubber grip and magnesium alloy front section. This camera has a mode dial and offers the opportunity to be creative with great results.

The 12.1 megapixel resolution allows you to crop or enlarge your images without affecting the quality and detail with the 3.5x optical zoom Nikkor lens and 4x digital zoom producing high precision and clarity.

The expandable system also makes the Nikon P5100 compatible with external flashes and converter lenses. There are also exposure modes for selection; programmed auto (P), shutter priority auto (S), aperture priority auto (A) and manual (M).

Additional features include; advanced face priority AF which can detect a maximum of twelve faces within a picture and control exposure, optical vibration reduction image stabilisation system which counteracts blurriness from moving subjects and shooting in low light conditions, Expeed image processing engine to give best performance possible, distortion control correcting barrel distortion. ISO range is 64/100/200/400/800/1600/2000/3200/auto with 3200 enabling faster shutter speeds to reduce the risk of blurry images.

The Coolpix P5100 has an optical viewfinder and a 2.5" wide angled viewing TFT LCD with anti-reflective coating. Images can be stored in the 52MB internal memory or on SD memory cards. A rechargeable Li-ion battery EN-EL5 powers the Nikon P5100 and has an approximate battery life of 240 shots, a battery charger is included in the package.

Accessories supplied include; USB cable, AV cable, strap and CD ROM and the Nikon Coolpix P5100 measures approximately 3.9" x 2.5" x 1.6" and weighs approximately 7.1oz.
