Nikon Coolpix S4 Review
The 10x zoom-Nikkor lens delivers between a 38 and 380mm zoom range which offers greater scope in your choice of subject as you can take close up or landscapes shots with equal effect.
The swivel body on the Nikon Coolpix S4, which allows the lens and LCD section to move separately, means that the Coolpix S4 can offer even further opportunities for creativity.
The Coolpix S4 offers, within its range, three useful facilities. FAce-priority AF is within the portrait mode and this locks into any face in the frame to give it excellent focus whatever the position. The Red-Eye Fix deals with the red-eye effect that can occur when using flash and makes relevant adjustments. The D-lighting function helps if you have taken a shot where the lighting is not appropriate because you can select that particular image, activate the D-lighting and it will create a better copy.
Because the S4 has a swivel body, the lens and LCD section can move separately which gives a much greater choice of camera angle. The 2.5" LCD display also makes it much easier to review shots.
In some situations you may be affected by camera shake, the S4 has an inbuilt blur warning function which tells you that this has affected your image thus giving you the opportunity for a retake.
There are four movie modes within the Coolpix S4, up to 15fps, and three of these also record sound.
The S4 uses AA size batteries and is PictBridge compatible giving you the useful facility of printing without the use of a computer.

This camera is the third camera I have had. It is really great that it has the swivel lens feature, because me and my friends love to take pictures together. I didn't get to pick out this camera; my family gave it to me for graduation. I love it! I hate the way that pictures look with flash on any camera, so I never use flash. This camera takes good pictures without the flash, but the one thing that I hate is that there is no anti-shake feature.
The pictures always come out blurry, even when the camera shakes the tiniest bit. That is one thing that I am disappointed about with this camera, but everything else is great!

This was gifted for my wedding by my aunt. One of the best camera I have ever come across.Easy to carry and I had stored all the images in my laptop for a year and recently printed 100 photos, the photos were fantastic, more clearer than the JPEG Images. No regrets and many times it has accidently fallen down from hand and no any complaints.Fireworks, landscape and portraits options are really amazing.Easly fits my pocket and fitted my purse...

My last 4 cameras were Nikons, from the Coolpix 950 on.
Then I got the S4, brilliant I thought, swivel body fantastic lens and zoom.
Then after just 6 months the sensor packed up. it took one month to get the return sorted (Pixmani) and then another three months to get a replacement and then just after one week the sensor packed up, I couldn't beleive it, I thought Nikons were the most reliable cameras and thats why I stuck with them. Plus I loved the swivel body design.
Well I couldn't do without a camera for three whole months so I bought a Canon Powershot A640. It's great.

This is a wonderful camera. The features are easy to understand and easy to use. The size is it's best feature. After all of what good is a camera that's too big to take everywhere? The only downside is the power on/off button, at an older age it sometimes can be difficult to press. Perhaps the newer models will incorporate the swivel head and the power button into one, then this camera would be perfect !!

I bought this camera just before attending a conference in Madrid as I was hoping that I might manage to have some 'tourist' time. Fortunately this was possible and I took quite a few shots of the city including some taken at night.
I found it to be a very easy camera to carry around with me, it didn't get in the way, and I have been impressed by the quality of my images.
The ones taken at night came out much better than I expected and I was very pleased with the results. The group photos I took of fellow delegates were also of excellent quality
One evening we had a social event which involved flamenco dancing and I am proud to say that I captured some great movements during the evening.
No regrets with this buy.

I have always liked Nikon cameras since my grandfather bought me my first one. Their lenses are incomparable and produce sharp images. The swivel lens is proving to be a great asset and I am having fun experimenting with all sorts of differently angled pictures - you wouldn't believe some of them. The S4 Cool Pix is really simple to use and the large LCD makes it much easier to set up a picture and look at it afterwards.

I prefer to travel light and wanted a 10x zoom digital camera that would fit into my pocket - I found it in the Coolpix S4. During my various travels I encounter many different situations and the S4 has come up trumps every time. If I haven't got it quite right there is usually a way to fix it, it even warns me if my shot may be blurry so that I can take it again. High quality photos are the end result and that's what is important.
