Nikon D200 - UK Digital SLR Camera Review

Nikon D200 Review

The Nikon D200 is a well built camera with a magnesium body, it offers versatility and, with full manual control, offers every opportunity for you to be creative.

The AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens within the Nikon D200 offers a wide range of shooting angles and the 10.2 megapixel DX format CCD sensor gives very detailed, clear and colourful results. Vivid colours are achieved as the D200 uses the 3D Color Matrix Metering II (AE) and the 11 area AF system allows you to choose individual focus areas.

There are 7 DX lenses available which have been designed with the Nikon DX format sensor in mind.

The D200 is compatible with the Nikon Total Imaging System which can further enhance your creative control as it includes lenses, speedlights, remote control, close ups and software.

The 2.5" LCD monitor has its own brightness adjustment and makes viewing of your images a simple process.

The D200 is ready to use in 0.15 seconds and comes with a high-energy EN-EL3e rechargeable lithium-ion battery. There is an optional battery pack available which can extend the shooting time and this takes six AA batteries or two EN-EL3e batteries.

The optional GPS adaptor Cord Mc-35 enables the D200 to be connected to a GPS.

I had heard a lot about the D200 and, having finally bought one, I agree with all the good write-ups given to this camera. It is a professional camera at a reachable price. The photos are amazing, detailed with fantastic colour and it also takes great black and white shots. I have also found it very easy to change settings quickly as light or the situation changes. I am positive that this camera will keep me occupied for quite some time.

The D200 was much cheaper than I expected that a camera of this quality would be so I didn't hesitate to add it to my collection. It is well built, comfortable to handle and very easy to use, adjustments can be made very quickly. Image quality is excellent and colours are superb and, as the camera fires up very quickly, it is much easier not to miss a shot. A very welcome addition which will be much used.

You can believe what you read about the D200, it is an excellent camera for the semi professional.

Once I managed to get hold of one I haven't stopped taking pictures. It is such a versatile camera and I have been able to produce some 'professional' pictures with it. High quality images and stunning colour.

With a little more experience I may well think about photography as a profession.
