Nikon D60 Review
The Nikon D60 is a high performance DX format digital SLR which is simple to use and has a fast start up time, 10.2 megapixels with the DX format image sensor ensure bright and highly detailed pictures that can be enlarged without detriment to quality. Weighing only 495g and measuring approximately 126 x 94 x 64, the Nikon D60 is easy to carry around with you,is comfortable to hold and has user friendly controls.
To enable good composition of shots, the Nikon D60 has a bright, clear penta-Dach mirror single lens reflex viewfinder which has 0.8x magnification and an eye-sensor which automatically takes the information from the LCD monitor when using the viewfinder thus saving power. The Nikon D60 works with SD memory cards, is SDHC compliant and images can be viewed on the 2.5" LCD monitor, playback includes full frame, thumbnail (4 or 9 images), slide show and auto image rotation.
ISO sensitivity ranges between 100 and 1600 in steps of 1EV and can also be set to 3200 equivalent, White Balance has 8 modes to choose from and the Nikon D60 has built-in flash with modes of slow sync, front or rear curtain sync, red-eye reduction and red-eye reduction with slow sync. The broad ISO range allows for faster shutter speeds which helps to considerably reduce blurring caused by camera shake, low light or moving objects. The Nikon D60 is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery and one charge can take approximately 500 shots in single frame, an AC adaptor can be purchased as an optional accessory.
The Nikon D60 has a range of interesting features such as: EXPEED image processing to give optimum image quality, a dust-reduction system for clear images and in-camera NEF (RAW) processing whereby images can be edited after shooting. The extensive retouch menu with 10 photo effects means that your original image can remain as it is and the Nikon D60 will create a copy which can be edited in-camera. Other features include: Active D-Lighting, 3-area autofocus 8 digital vari-programmes and an LCD information display which will rotate to follow the orientation of the camera.
The stop-motion feature creates animated movies from a series which the Nikon D60 will save as a short movie which can be played back either on the LCD screen or via a computer (AVI format).
