Olympus C-7070 WideZoom Review

The Olympus C-7070 WideZoom has a magnesium alloy body and many ambitious features which makes it a very versatile camera as well as being compact.

This wide-zoom camera will open up many opportunities for the keen photographer as its large focal range gives very wide viewing angles for landscape and panoramic scenes. The 4x optical zoom lens has eight elements including two aspherical and one ED.

The 7 megapixels in the C-7070 WideZoom together with the ED element and aspherical lenses means that you can achieve a very high level of clarity and detail.

Having an autofocus system which includes Predictive AF, the C-7070 can capture moving subjects without loss of clarity.

The Olympus C-7070 offers full manual control using your own imagination, or within the automatic settings there are seven scene programmes. Images will be displayed on the 4.5cm sunshine LCD which is multi-angled for ease of viewing.

The camera can also record videos with sound, in SHQ mode they can be recorded at 30fps for up to 20 seconds.

The Olympus C-7070 WideZoom has a TruePic TURBO image processor and is compatible with PictBridge.

There are many accessories available to add to the C-7070 WideZoom including; wide-angle conversion lens, tele conversion lens, underwater case and various flash units.

I rate myself as somewhere between a beginner and a professional and I would say that the C7070 Widezoom is both suitable for me now and for later when I have a bit more expertise. It is very easy to use, comfortable to hold and has a wide range of features to satisfy most people. It was ready to use as soon as I had taken it out of the box, charged the battery and put the correct date and time in.

I have found that it will take excellent pictures without my having to give it instructions, though I can see that I will be able to achieve much better results when I have progressed to using the various functions.

No regrets with this purchase

I did quite a bit of research on digital cameras before making my choice and the C7070 widezoom certainly seemed to fit the bill on paper. Having now used it for some months I can also confirm that it fits the bill in reality and I am very pleased with my choice. It has great digital zoom and produces high quality photos which, even when blown up, do not suffer in appearance. I will definitely be buying some additional lenses.

Was presented with this camera at my leaving 'do' and fortunately someone had the foresight to charge up the batteries. I managed to take some great photos at the party and I wasn't even used to the camera.

It is easy to use, has many features, a long battery life and comes with rechargeable batteries and a charger - can't get much better.
