Olympus FE-200 Review
The Olympus FE-200 is a ultra compact camera with metal body and has 6 megapixel CCD for excellent clarity. This camera also features 5x optical and 4x digital zoom covering wide-angle to telephoto making all shots available to you.
As the Olympus FE-200 works on the principle of one button for one function it is therefore very simple to use.
This simplicity is also enhanced by the inclusion of 10 scene modes where preselected settings have been chosen for certain situations. These include; indoor, candle, sunset, fireworks, self portrait and sports. ISO sensitivity is automatic between 64-400 and there is a mode to counteract image blur using high ISO setting.
White Balance can be adjusted and the internal flash in the FE-200 features; auto, red-eye reduction, fill in and off. The Olympus FE-200 is powered by lithium-ion battery (with charger included in the package) and has an internal memory of 24MB with additional memory available on xD-Picture Card.
Still images are recorded on; JPEG/Exif/PIM/DPS/DPOF with movies with sound as QuickTime Motion JPEG up to card capacity. Movies can be shot 320 x 240 at 30fps and 160 x 120 at 15fps. Images and movies can be viewed on the 2.5" LCD monitor - still images as index, zoom, slide show and rotation, movies as frame by frame, fast forward, reverse playback and voice playback.
The Olympus FE-200 comes supplied with Olympus Master Software which makes it easy to download, organise, edit and print from a computer.

It is my first digital camera and I am not a keen photographer either. As a simple compact camera to take with you abroad, it is O.K. but I wonder how much it is worth the money spent on buying it (120 Maltese liri in late 2006). Although I managed to take super nice photos, yet many others are not so good. My FE 200 has some very happy memories, but I look foreward to purchase a better and perhaps cheaper machine.

Bought this because as it was similar to other Olympus cameras, but with an excellent 28-135 zoom. Unfortunately it has proved to be far too slow. The start up is slow, the focus is slow, reviewing your pictures is mind numbingly slow. Flash is very poor. Iso 1000 setting almost useless as noise is very poor, especially in dark conditions. Stick it on a tripod and take some landscapes and it produces nice A4 pics. Any other time and i'm lucky to get more than 3 out of ten OK shots. Already trying to sell it and get something better. Next time i'll read a lot more reviews first!
