If your requirement is for a high performance but user friendly camera then the Olympus FE-350 Wide would be a suitable example. There are many features included to help achieve great photographic results including the 4x wide zoom lens which offers creative flexibility.

The Olympus FE-350 Wide is an 8 megapixel model with 4x digital zoom which, when combined with the optical zoom, gives a total zoom of 16x and offers great flexibility in the results that can be achieved. Super Macro mode is also available which will give quality of detail as close as 5cm.

Other technology includes; Face Detection where correct focus and exposure is given to faces within your shot and Digital image stabilisation to compensate for blurring. There are also 16 scene modes to choose from where optimum settings have been preselected to suit certain situations and these include; portrait and landscape, night, sports, candle, indoor, fireworks, sunset, behind glass and documents.

Shooting can be by using the internal memory or on xD-Picture Card and still images are recorded as DCF/Exif 2.21/PIM III/DPS/DPOF. Movies with sound are recorded as AVI Motion JPEG, Wave format. Images can be viewed on the large 7.6cm/3.0" LCD with still as index, zoom, slide show, rotation and favourite and movie images as frame by frame, fast forward and reverse. Images can be resized and trimmed and there is also a red-eye reduction feature. ISO sensitivity equivalent is 80/100/200/400/640 in manual and between 80 - 640 in auto, White Balance has auto, fluorescents, tungsten, sunlight and overcast. The internal flash offers auto, red-eye reduction, fill-in and off.

The Olympus FE-350 Wide weighs approximately 138g (without battery and card) and measures 97.7 x 55.7 x 26.5 mm.
