Olympus µ [mju:] 1010 Review

The Olympus µ [mju:] 1010 has 10.1 megapixels, 7x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom and offers great flexibility to the photographer. The optical zoom is backed up with imaging technology including Dual Image Stabilisation, BrightCapture, Face Detection and image processing engine.

Dual Image Stabilisation eliminates blurring, Face Detection means that any faces within your shot will receive the correct exposure and focus and BrightCapture means that more success can be achieved when shooting in low light conditions. The Olympus µ [mju:] 1010 can also produce superb panoramic photographs and utilises the TruePic II image processor for higher image quality due to faster handling.

Images can be viewed on the 6.9cm/2.7" HyperCrystal LCD with still image functions including; slide show, rotation, zoom, calendar and favourite with movie images as frame by frame, fast forward and reverse. Still images can be edited and choices include black and white, sepia, red-eye reduction, resize and with the attachment of frame, title or calendar.

The Olympus µ [mju:] 1010 also includes 23 scene modes where settings have already been preselected to achieve the optimum performance for a given situation. These scenes include portrait and landscape, sports, night, fireworks, sunset, beach and snow, behind glass and indoor together with three underwater scenes as the Olympus µ [mju:] 1010 can withstand a water pressure equivalent of 40m when using the underwater case (PT-042). ISO sensitivity equivalents are 80 - 1600 in automatic and 80/100/200/400/800/1600 when selected manually. White Balance offers an auto system, overcast, fluorescents, tungsten and sunlight and there is an internal flash with auto, red-eye reduction, fill-in and off.
