The Olympus µ [mju:] 700 is housed in a stylish, weatherproof metal body, is available in a choice of four colours (Moonlight Black, Moonlight Silver, Sunset Orange and Twilight Blue) and its style is matched by its contents.

With 7.1 megapixels, 3x optical and 5x digital zoom (combined total of 15x zoom) the Olympus µ [mju:] 700 is a high performance camera providing sharp image definition and close proximity to the subject chosen. The µ [mju:] 700 has TTL autofocus with contrast detection operating in auto, standard, macro and super macro mode.

The Olympus [mju:] 700 is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery LI-42B, has an internal memory capacity of 19.1 MB and takes xD-Picture Card (16,32,64,128,256,512MB and 1GB). Still images are stored as JPEG, EXIF 2.2, DPS, PIM III, DPOF and movies as QuickTime Motion JPEG with sound depending on card capacity. Movies can be shot at 640x480/320x240/160x120 at 15fps.

Images can be viewed on the large 2.5" TFT LCD monitor with BrightCapture technology. This technology within the Olympus µ [mju:] 700 can produce improved images in low light conditions and also includes a mode to reduce possible blurring. Still image editing choices include; resizing, black & white, sepia, frame and title insert, calendar insert and correction of brightness/saturation.

The Olympus µ [mju:] 700 has a built-in flash in auto, red-eye reduction, fill-in and off with White Balance options of auto and preset modes for tungsten, sunlight, overcast and fluorescent x3. Sensitivity auto range is ISO 64 - 400 (ISO 2500 relevant to scene modes - available light portrait and candle) and manual range of 64/100/200/400/800/1600.

There are 23 scene modes within the Olympus µ [mju:] 700 where optimum selections have been preset for particular situations and these include; portrait, landscape, landscape with portrait, night, sports, sunset, fireworks, beach & snow, underwater x3 and self portrait. The Olympus µ [mju:] 700 also has a Digital Image Stabilisation mode which compensates for blurring caused by camera shake by increasing sensitivity.

PictBridge support allows direct printing with compatible printers.
