This weatherproof metal body available in Midnight Black or Starry Silver houses the Olympus µ [mju:] 740 which although ultra-compact still retains significant zoom power.

The Olympus µ [mju:] 740 has 7.1 megapixels, 5x optical and 5.6 digital zoom and this combined with the Dual Image Stabilisation which counteracts camera shake and BrightCapture technology which produces improved images in low light conditions without using flash, results in the production of high quality, precise pictures.

Another helpful feature that the Olympus µ [mju:] 740 can offer is that it has a choice of 23 scene modes where settings have been pre-selected to obtain the best results from particular situations. These choices include; landscape, portrait, night, cuisine, fireworks, sports, sunset, candle, beach & snow, underwater x3 and self portrait.

The focusing system of the µ [mju:] 740 is TTL iESP auto focus with contrast detection together with spot focusing and standard/macro/super macro modes.

The Olympus [mju:] 740 sensitivity ranges are auto and manual (ISO 80/100/200/400/800/1600), the ability to increase light sensitivity also assists to compensate for camera shake. White Balance choices include; sunlight, overcast, fluorescent x3 and tungsten and the Olympus µ [mju:] 740 has an internal flash with auto, red-eye reduction, fill in and off modes.

Images can be viewed on the large 2.5" LCD monitor. The Olympus µ [mju:] 740 has an internal memory of 17MB and still images are stored as JPEG, EXIF 2.2, PIM III, DPS, DPOF and movies as QuickTime Motion JPEG with sound up to card capacity. Recording format of movies is 640x480 at 15fps, 320x240 at 15fps and 160x120 at 15fps. Still images can be viewed in various ways including album, calendar, rotation and slide show and movies as frame by frame, fast forward or reverse playback. Images can also be edited with choices including; sepia, black & white, resize, correction of brightness/saturation and adding attachments.
