Olympus SP-510 UltraZoom Review
The Olympus SP-510 UltraZoom has a powerful 10x optical zoom which when combined with the 5x digital zoom gives a total zoom of 50x. This together with 7.1 megapixels results in clear, detailed images.
The BrightCapture technology and high ISO sensitivity results in good images being taken in low light conditions and compensates for blurring caused by camera shake and moving subjects. The full ISO sensitivity range includes; auto/50/100/200/400/800/1600 with the BrightCapture technology boosting this to 4000 in respect of low light conditions.
The Olympus SP-510 UltraZoom has an internal flash with a range of auto, fill in, off, red-eye reduction, slow sync, red-eye + fill in and flash compensation. White Balance settings include; overcast, sunlight, fluorescents, tungsten, manual and white balance adjustment.
The Olympus SP-510 UZ has an electronic viewfinder and a 2.5" LCD. Images can be viewed as slide show, calendar, album, index, zoom, rotation and histogram and movies as frame by frame, fast forward/reverse and index jump. Still images are recorded as JPEG, RAW, EXIF 2.21, PIM III, DPS, DPOF and movies as QuickTime Motion JPEG / WAV with sound up to card capacity - 640x480/320x240 at 30/15fps. Editing can be carried out in black & white and sepia, images can be resized and trimmed, frame/ title/calendar can be attached and brightness and saturation can be corrected.
There are 21 scene modes to choose from to help you to achieve the perfect picture and these include; portrait, landscape, beach, snow, fireworks, cuisine, sunset, candle, sports and night.
The Olympus SP-510 UltraZoom works with xD-Picture cards and one set of AA batteries last for approximately 630 shots.

Hi
I am a professionally trained Photographer and am now in secondary school education in an arts college in the IT dept. I wanted to use this camera as a small backup alternative.
I have read quite a few reviews on this camera on the internet and everything you have read is true. The quality of the Photos is very bad and shame full for an Olympus. The amount of noise on a 400 setting is not acceptable by todays standards. There are some good points to this Model but most of us want an image we can look at bigger than the one on view back. This was all to plain to most of the people who have reviewed this camera but i have not seen any mention of another nightmare problem that no one else seems to have seen apart from myself. Did i do something wrong i wonder? Basically the viewfinder and screen seem to have a Magenta colour cast; with lines; that come in when you have any sort of brightness outside or even indoors. The patches are not Flare as it is not on the final photo but do alot to you not being able see the subject let alone make sure you are focused. Even if you hold the camera up to your light bulb in the sitting room this effect still ha ppens but just not as apparent as when in bright conditions outside. Again it does not appear on your finished pic. It was the final straw for me and went back to Jessops and changed the camera. Camera changed and i still had the problem. Back to Jessops. Obviously not a faulty camera? This time i traded it in for a different manafacturer. There has been a few good deals on this camera lately and it explains why. rather a blow for Olympus and myself as its caused me so much grief. Now have a Fujifilm S9600. Bigger i know and more money but so far a lovely camera. I know that this is not to technical a review but thats been done. Justed wanted to say some great features but Olympus forgot what they were about by forgetting the basics. Like quality.
