i'm had this camera for a couple of months now. so the honey moon period is OVER. there are a lot worse cameras out there, but there are a lot of better ones too if you spend a little bit more money.
yeah it's got some great freatures like 420mm zoom. manual focus ring, flippy LCD screen and lots of funky features. but as far as quility goes not very good. even in bright light the photos still come out bland, flat and yes even on ISO80 you still manage to get picture noise. and some people might say this is just me. but if you look at an example picture of a FZ30 compared to say a nikon d40. the difference is huge. however it's a tough little toy and it can take a brusing. so if you like a good looking camera with lots features but don't take photography to seriouly this is a good camera. but if you get up a 4am just to catch a dewy sunrise, i would say, get a real SLR

I have this camera for a few weeks now, and I simply love it! I'm not a proffesional photographer and if you want-a simple but good- that's a camera for you. Of course there is noise visible at high ISO's, but I don't mind it and frankly I rarely shoot in a very low light. I would recommend this little wonder to everyone. Buy it!

From research it appeared that this would be the closest I would get to owning a digital SLR and I was right. This camera is lightweight, packs power and has a fast response time. There are many options and controls to choose from that will keep me, an enthusiastic amateur, very happy.

The FZ30 has the great Leica lens, which was one of the reasons for choosing it, is easy to use and has manual focus and zoom rings.
I certainly achieve professional results, clarity and colour are excellent, it is a pleasure to use.
I am very happy with my purchase.

Quick start up and excellent zoom capability. It is so easy to take 'professional' pics with sharp images and good colour with this camera. The Leica lens deserves its reputation and it is not difficult to carry this camera around with you even with all the great features it has to offer these have not made it bulky. I am a keen amateur but I believe professionals would be happy to include the FZ30 amongst their collection.

Having lots of fun with this one and I feel that with the experience I already have that this camera was made for me.
It is relatively light and therefore easy to carry around, offers many options and enables me to take professional quality photos. It also protects my images from the occasional hand shake syndrome.
Powers up fast and has Leica lens.
I didn't have a problem myself but I could imagine that the menu screen may not be particularly user friendly if you don't have a lot of experience.
