Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 Review
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 incorporates 12x optical zoom Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens and the Advanced Mega Optical Image Stabilizer that its predecessors have, but in a more compact form which is easy to carry around.
It has 6 megapixels CCD and the addition of a joystick allowing easier manual control on focusing. The 2.5" LCD monitor allows various styles of playback and remains bright even in low-light conditions.
There are four colour modes to choose from on the Lumix DMC-FZ7 which are: black/white, sepia, cool and warm together with sixteen scene modes where settings are preselected. The scene modes include fireworks, party, candle, baby, night, sports, portrait and snow.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 is powered by a Li-ion battery pack with a battery life of 320 pictures (CIPA standard) or 340 pictures (EVF) and is also PictBridge compatible.
ISO can be auto/80/100/200/400 or high sensitivity of auto/800/1600 with white balance offering five differing selections.
Focusing area of the Panasonic DMC-FZ70 ranges from normal to wide to tele and has the aid of the AF Assist Lamp.
There is a built in flash unit in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 which offers a selection of modes including red-eye reduction and the viewfinder offers approximately 100% field of view.
Video can be shot at 30 or 10fps depending on memory card capacity with image quality of TIFF/Fine/Standard. Images are stored on SD Memory Card or MultiMedia card.

Great camera and once you get your head around the menu system it is quite quick to change the settings.
All in all I'm glad I bought this camera and have taken some of the best photo's with this since owning a camera and believe me, that's a long time.

Having owned a kodak 5mp camera for 3 years (which I was happy with) I decided to upgrade to a camera with more and better features. After trolling the net for a model in my price range, then checking independant reviews, I decided on buying this model. I must say that I am extremely pleased with this camera, the 12x zoom is out of this world and combined with the superb image stabilisation, makes taking zoom photos a breeze, they turn out sharp and in focus, blurry zoom images are a thing of the past thanks to this great camera.
The scenery modes are also very good, the night scenery and starry sky modes are both excellent.
Another bonus is being able to take uncompressed images in the tiff format, great for tinkering with.
Almost every setting can be adjusted in various modes, but having only used a point and press camera it's a bit complicated for me at the moment, luckily there is a very easy "simple" mode. All in all a great camera.

I bought this camera because I felt that it would be used both by my wife, who has very little experience, and myself, with some experience.
My wife chose the silver version but the black is just as stylish but I am glad that we bought this model because we are both enjoying using it with great results.
There are some really good scene modes which we are both currently experimenting with. Friends of our have just had a baby so that one is being used and we are going to an outdoor concert this month which will finish with a firework display, so guess which one we will be trying out then.
Glad we bought it, would recommend to others.

I was hoping for great things when buying this camera and have not been let down so far.
It is lightweight and comfortable to hold, features are easy to understand and it has great zoom.
Image stabilisation has been useful as has the unlimited consecutive shooting feature when I have been to various events.
It is possibly more suited to an experienced amateur rather than a true professional.
