Pentax *istD Review

The Pentax *istD has 6.1 megapixels CCD with primary colour filter and is compatible with all K mount 35mm format PENTAX interchangeable lenses and accessories.

Powered by 4x AA batteries the Pentax *istD takes Compact Flash I and II cards and microdrive.

Images are recorded as TIFF, RAW and JPEG and can be played back on the 1.8" LCD monitor instantly as image rotation, magnification, histogram and slide show. An AC adaptor is available as an optional accessory.

The Pentax *istD has a built in flash offering; auto, flash off and red-eye reduction, White Balance has auto and manual modes and ISO equivalents are 200/1600. The Pentax *istD also has 23 programmable custom functions.

For connection to a computer or television the Pentax *istD comes with Pentax Photo Browser viewing software and Pentax Photo Laboratory RAW conversion software.

This is my third digital camera and I have so far found this one to be the best both from a user friendly point of view and by being easy to handle. My pics are very clear with beautiful colouring and my enthusiasm has been rekindled - I can't stop trying out new shots. Would recommend for most picture takers

I am not very good at reading through manuals but found that with this camera I didn't really need to - it is self-explanatory and very easy to use. I have now taken photos in many different situations and so far have not produced any disasters.

My only slightly negative comment at this stage is that I do have a little difficulty in taking out the flash card, but I wouldn't change the camera for this.

I have had Pentax cameras before and was really pleased to find that I could use my previous lenses with this camera. It has great features, is easy to hold as it is lightweight and is extremely user friendly. It also takes great pictures - precise and good colour.
