It's a reliable simple workhorse camera. Good for a beginner, I agree. Been beginning with that.
It has just as much features as it is needed to take a picture, no more... although there could've been more Image quality is from middle to worse, especially when the lightning is poor.
Weak flash makes it of a very limited usability.
Good one to start with, switchon-takeashot camera Although I've seroius thoughts of getting something more sofisticated after 2 years of usage of 50L.

The sound quality on movies on this camera is poor to useless, with no playback with the actual camera itself.

I had hoped for a little more from this camera but, overall, it proves to be pretty average and nothing particularly stands out.
It is a sturdy little camera and very easy to use but nothing special

A beginner might enjoy using this camera but it doesn't really offer anything to anyone with experience. It has a good size LCD but this is not clear in bright lights, the flash is weak and, because of the ISO rating, indoor shots are not very successful. An absolute beginner might make good use of this.
