Pentax Optio S45 Review
The Pentax Optio S45 has a stylish aluminium body, smc PENTAX lens, 4 megapixels CCD with primary colour filter, 3x optical zoom with 'sliding lens' system and 2.6x digital zoom. The combination of these and many other features included within the Pentax Optio S45 produces high quality results.
In addition to taking still images, the Pentax S45 also shoots AVI format movies at 30fps and 15fps with sound, length dependent upon memory capacity. The Optio S45 has an inbuilt memory of 11MB and takes SD memory cards.
Amongst the features available are 9 preset picture modes. These modes have pre-selected settings applicable to certain scenarios and include; landscape, self-portrait, flower, surf, sunset, museum and snow - simply choose the mode and press the button.
The Pentax Optio S45 focus system has TTL 5 point auto focus, spot AF or manual focus with various ranges; normal (40cm - infinity), macro (18cm - 50cm), supermacro (6cm - 20cm), manual (6cm - infinity) and infinity landscape mode. The flash sysem is inbuilt with auto flash, flash off, flash on and red-eye reduction.
White balance functions are; automatic, daylight, shade, flourescent, tungsten and manual. Other features offer adjustable sharpness, saturation and contrast, histogram display, voice memo and with drive modes of; self-timer, continuous shooting and remote control.
The Pentax Optio S45 has a large 2.5" TFT colour LCD screen of approximately 115,000 pixels and playback modes include; zoom view up to 12x magnification, nine image display, image protection and histogram display showing brightness levels.
The controls on the Pentax S45 include a nine position mode dial for easy selection, the size of the menu text can be increased and a 4 way controller which can be programmed with favourite functions.
The Pentax Optio S45 is powered by 2x AA (included in the package) or 1x CR-V3 battery and is compatible with DPOF, DCF, EXIF 2.2 and PIM III and with PictBridge for direct printing.

it would be an okay camera except for one HUGE drawback. the battery life is absolutely terrible. i go through batteries faster than i ever have in my life, and it just doesn't seem worth it to me.

This is an awesome camera and takes brill pictures...not soo good for night photos but i think that because i havent read my manual and worked out how to adjust the setting! highly recommend this camera and is great value for money. I am travelling around australia and it has taken some amazing pictures :o)
