Samsung Digimax i5 Review
The Samsung Digimax i5 has 5 megapixel CCD and a total of 15x zoom which combine to produce excellent image precision and colour when shooting pictures or text. It has a stainless steel body and is only 17.3mm thick.
The Digimax i5 will automatically adjust shooting distance and focus from 5cm to infinity without you having to choose the macro function. If subjects are as close as 1cm then the super macro function can be used.
There are various scene modes to choose from in the Samsung i5 including; portrait, landscape, dawn, sunset, night, children, snow, beach and fireworks. These modes have preselected settings to ensure that the correct conditions are applied to the specific scene. Text recognition is also included amongst the scene modes whereby shots can be taken of magazines, books and papers.
In addition to the scene modes there are four special effect choices: photo frame, highlight, colour and composite. The colour effect covers black and white, sepia, red, green and blue whilst the photo frame offers a selection of frames to choose from. Highlight brings out your subject from the background by softly blurring the surroundings.
Incorporated within the Samsung Digimax i5 is the SF capability which gives greater clarity in low light conditions when a flash is not appropriate. As the flash is not used, red-eye is eliminated.
Images can be viewed on the large 2.5" TFT LCD and the Digimax i5 has an M button which allows you to switch between automatic, manual and scene modes speedily and with ease.
The Samsung Digimax i5 has MPEG-4 for video shooting and, when used with 256 MB memory, you can record up to 130 minutes of movie with sound. High quality movies of up to 30 fps at VGA resolution can be shot which can then be played back on a TV or PC screen.

I found it very easy to switch around the functions even though it is small (which I originally thought might be a problem but it isn't). The M button is very useful.
Pictures are not super fine but they are certainly precise enough for most of us, achieved best results using normal setting.

This is really small and very easy to take around and once I had got used to the controls found it easy to operate. I very much like the fact that I can switch easily from still to movie mode. Has a decent memory and the battery life is not bad, I'm getting about 100 shots a time. Have taken a few close up shots which have come out very well presumably due to the anti-shake and macro. Would recommend this as a good all-rounder as beginners will enjoy success and the more-experienced can play.

My other half decided to surprise me with this one just before we went on holiday, mind you we really did need a decent camera.
So small that you don't realise you are carrying a camera around with you, lots to choose from and shoots good movies. One evening we were treated to a firework display and it was great to realise that we had a special setting for these pics. The large LCD also makes it easy to see images.
