Samsung Digimax S500 Review
The Samsung Digimax S500 is available in a choice of black or silver and has 5.1 megapixels, 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom resulting in true to life colour and superb image quality.
The body is designed to give a comfortable and steady hold by use of the grip which results in better focus being achieved.
Images can be easily viewed on the large 2.4" LCD screen as this offers a wider image as well as a clearer one.
The Digimax S500 offers various functions including photo frame, highlight and composite shot at just the touch of a button and when set on auto mode automatically adjusts focusing distance. For shots closer than 5cm there is a macro facility which produces excellent close-up shots.
In addition there are ten scene modes to choose from on the Samsung S500 including portrait, landscape, dawn, night, snow, beach and fireworks. These are easy to select and provide optimum settings for individual situations. For instance, the 'children' mode uses fast shutter speeds whilst 'night' uses slow synchronisation and 'portrait' offers red-eye reduction as well as producing more true to life skin tones.
The Samsung Digimax S500 is PictBridge compatible and images can be printed or downloaded easily and quickly.

My daughter bought this camera and has had nothing but trouble with it.It has been replaced once and is now in for repair( lucky it had a two year warranty).Terrible on batteries, lags and always coming up with errors on card, even deletes images on its own.Does not want it back.
Stay well away from the s500,look at the Panasonic range.

Got this as my first digital camera (after reading reviews on this site) and I have been very pleased with it so far. Putting it up against other cameras belonging to friends, that might be a bit older, but cost quite a lot more the results are very good.
It has a multitude of settings, all of which are quick and easy to get to and set up.
So far the battery life has been very good, I have some Ni-MH and Ni-cd rechargeables and they both have been able to power it for over a week (the Ni-MH are much better) at a time with it having had quite a bit of use because of some building work going on and its taking around 20-30 pictures over the course of each day.
Overall I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone

It's a good camera, the huge screen makes it easy to see the image. The battery lasts a very long time on a set of 2500 MAh batteries, video recording at 30 FPS is good as well.
