Samsung GX-10 Review
The Samsung GX-10 with 10.2 megapixels will deliver superior pictures that are crystal clear and true in colour.
The Optical Picture Stabilisation feature built into the Samsung GX-10, which is compatible with pentax lens, also makes blurred pictures a historic problem as it compensates for camera shake.
The body of this highly advanced digital SLR camera has been constructed to make it effectively water/sand resistant and it is structured so as to keep the CCD always dust free. The CCD also has a dust resistant coating and therefore pictures will be clear of defects caused by dust particles.
The Samsung GX-10 has a separate information LCD placed on the top of the camera which displays useful information on operation such as shutter speed, aperture, flash, mode, focus, white balance and battery capacity thus making it easy to use.
There are many advanced features within the GX-10 including a Penta Prism viewfinder (with 95% field of view) and RAW support (dedicated RAW button). Images can be viewed on the 2.5" large TFT LCD, the size of which gives more composition control.
The GX-10 with its many features will allow you to become even more creative.

Hi,
I have been an amateur photographer for many years, far too many some would say!
I have recently obtained the Samsung GX10 twin lens kit, I had a Nikon D80, super images but such a infuriating setup with buttons-menu + the upper LCD screen lighting was very poor, the Nikon "glass" is second to none, so I got rid of the D80 body and tried the D40x, much easier to use but very limited, (Nikon D200 far to heavy).
So when I got hold of the Samsung, at a ridiculously cheap price on Ebay! I was delighted.
Now to the Samsung, if you require a terrific digital SLR at a very good price this may be for you, it is not for the "novice" but the enthusiast.
No "scene" modes, but if you were bought up on film cameras as I was, this is for you, the image stabilisation works well as do most things on this camera, it has been said "images not as crisp straight out of the box" all good enthusiast photographers set their cameras to suit them selves, well I do!!
It is not as heavy as some cameras but the specification is very good, I have also updated the "firm ware" to the latest version. (Now set for usm/hsm type lenses + other things) One very good thing, all of the older Pentax pkaf lenses can be used, so if you don’t mind doing the focusing manually even the old P-K lenses, and with an adapter even 42mm screw types, there are some good ones out in the second-hand market for not much money, I cant afford £900+ for a Nikon 2.8 VR zoom.
My best advice is buy either the Samsung or the Pentax version, forget the badge (label) on the front, "shoot RAW" do the work in Photoshop and enjoy you pin sharp images, for a fraction of the cost of other camera systems.
Ps, anybody want some Nikon lenses?

The first thing you notice about the GX10 is the weight which reflects the solid build quality, this is a serious camera and this fact that its weather and dust sealed adds to the pro feel.
The camera takes SD memory cards which are widly available and cheap, the battery is a dedicated rechargable li-on type - spares are readily avaiable on the internet at very reasonable prices (from about £5). Expect 400 shots or so from a fully charged battery - less if you use a lot of flash or use the LCD a lot.
I found the autofocus good, quick and precise, the supplied lenses allow you to manually adjust focus without switching to manual. Exposure settings are accurate - the 16 section mode has a very slight tendancy to underexpose if the sky is bright - but nothing serious.
Most features that you want to change while shooting, can be accessed with the buttons and dials without the need to move your eye from the viewfinder or resorting to the menu. The controls are well laid out and intuative, the menu system is easy to navigate. Most importantly picture quality is excellent.
Being derived from the Pentax K10d all the Pentax lenses and accessories fit (apart from the battery grip - there is s dedicated Samsung version). There is also a lot of third party support for the pentax KAF2 lens mount.
The Samsung web site leaves a lot to be desired (some broken links and fiddly contact section), but firmware updates are available. (v1.3 when I last looked).

Good Points
- Weather sealed body, likely to withstand rough handling
- Effective optical picture stabilization with image-sensor shift mechanism
- CCD dust removal
- Bright PentaPrism viewfinder (FOV 0.95x).
- 11 points AF system
- Would accept Pentax DA, K, KA and KAF lenses.
Bad Points
- Chunkier and weightier than most other DSLRs in this price range
- Questionable support and firmware updates
Overall
- Rebadged Pentax K10D. Exceptional value for the money. Well built camera, with tons of nice features, well suited for advanced amateur and semi-professional photgraphy.
