Samsung NV11 Review

The Samsung NV11 is both elegant and simple in design and with the Smart Touch feature, makes finding your way around the menu system very easy and therefore makes using this camera easy.

Having 10.1 megapixel CCD, 5x optical zoom and Schneider KREUZNACH lenses, the Samsung NV11 produces quality pictures of great detail and clarity. The 5x optical is also available in video mode to bring your subject closer.

The Samsung NV11 has ASR (advanced shake reduction) which works well in low light conditions and ensures clear images even when flash is not used. Face Recognition AF and AE can detect up to 9 faces within your shot and will automatically adjust focus and brightness to produce the best results. This function can also detect and remove red-eye. There is also a red-eye fix function which can be set to automatically eliminate red-eye from shots as they are taken or it can be removed during playback.

Various special scene features are available where optimum settings have already been preselected and these include; portrait, landscape, dawn, sunset, beach & snow, children, night and text. There is also a Biz mode which will allow you to manage and store business cards in your PC.

MPEG-4 VGA (640x480x30fps) and TVD (720x480, 20fps -NV) movies can be recorded and edited on-camera. Still images are recorded as JPEG (DCF), Exif 2.2, DPOF and stored on the internal memory of 20MB or on SD/MMC(Plus)/SDHC cards. Images can be viewed on the 2.7" colour TFT LCD and played back as single image, thumbnails, movie clip and slide show and editing features include trimming, resizing, rotation, colour, GIF animation and red-eye fix. The Samsung NV11 has an advanced photo gallery so that pictures can be accessed quickly and easily.

White Balance features are auto, daylight, cloudy, tungsten and fluorescents, ISO sensitivity equivalents are auto/80/100/200/400/800/1600 (ISO 1600 allows for clear indoor pictures without image blur) and flash modes include auto, auto + red-eye, fill-in flash, slow sync, red-eye fix and flash off. The Samsung NV11 is powered by a rechargeable 3.7V Li-ion battery (SLB-1137D).
