Samsung NV20 Review

The Samsung NV20 is a well-designed, stylish slimline camera that includes technology that ensures excellent results every shot without having to have a great deal of experience.

The built-in technology covers many situations and includes Face Recognition AF & AE whereby up to nine faces can be detected within your shot and focus and brightness will be automatically adjusted to ensure perfect portraits.

Other features are the ACB (Auto Contrast Balance) function which compensates for brightness in difficult lighting conditions and Fast ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) which produces brighter and more natural pictures as it prevents any deterioration in quality when flash is used. It can also take excellent pictures without using flash.

The Samsung NV20 has 12.1 megapixel Schneider Kreuznach lenses for crystal clear pictures, 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom and the Smart Touch, touch-sensitive system, allows you to have easy control over the camera both for accessing the menus and reviewing. Still images are recorded as JPEG (DCF), Exif 2.21, DPOF 1.1, movies, with or without sound, as AVI (MPEG-4), WAV (640x480/320x240 at 30/15fps) and can be stored on the 20MB internal memory or on SD,SDHC,MMC Plus memory cards. Images can be played back using the 2.5" TFT LCD monitor as single image, thumbnails, slide show or movie. Images can also be edited (trimming, resizing, rotate, effect - black & white, sepia, red/green/blue, negative, composite, photo frame, GIF animation and custom).

White Balance has modes of auto, daylight, cloudy, fluorescents, tungesten and custom, ISO sensitivity has auto/80/100/2100/400/800/1600/3200 and flash functions include auto, auto & red-eye reduction, slow sync, fill-in flash, flash off and red-eye fix. Red-eye fix can automatically eliminate red-eye from your shots (or it can be removed during playback). Special scene choices, where settings have been preselected, include landscape, portrait, night, children, close-up, sunset, text, dawn, beach & snow, fireworks and BIZ. The BIZ function allows you to take photos of your business cards and store them directly onto your PC.

The Samsung NV20 uses a 3.7V Li-ion rechargeable battery which can be charged on a power point, laptop or desktop computer by using the single charging USB cable kit.

Bought it heavily discounted, after 3 year old Canon Ixus sensor packed up. Needed to use it on a business trip.

Very disappointing.
Used it on a work assignment, and gave it away afterwards.

Bad interface after Canon. Image quality very poor. Much worse than 5mb Ixus. Best feature was the video and the remote control, but IQ rubbish.

Everything seems either yellow or green, used samsung for years and this is the worst one yet! had a lower megapixel camera and took really nice photos, even indoors, the nv20 is quite useless indoors or with poor lightning

all in all a good camera,as i would of expected from samsung.battery last,s a good while,picture quality good,touch screen takes a while to get used too,just wish they had a manual,instead of having to go to my laptop for instructions.
