Samsung S1050 Review
The Samsung S1050 has a variety of functions that make it interesting to use both by professionals and those who are less experienced. It is comfortable to hold and has easy to use manual features.
The 10.l megapixel true-colour filter CCD, 5x optical and 5x digital zoom, giving 25x total zoom when combined produce high quality, precise images that can be enlarged without deterioration.
Technology within the Samsung S1050 produces excellent results and includes: ASR (advanced shake reduction) which reduces camera shake and takes brighter and more natural pictures in low light particularly when using flash / Face Recognition, a function which detects faces within the shot and optimises focus and brightness.
The Samsung S1050 has a feature called Wise Shot which means that you can take two pictures at the same time, one with ASR and one with flash, you can then choose which shot you prefer to keep. ISO sensitivity equivalents are auto/80/100/200/400/800/1600, the auto feature will automatically adjust sensitivity to suit the conditions and also helps with camera shake, image blur and low light conditions. White Balance has auto, daylight, fluorescents, cloudy, tungsten and custom with flash modes of auto, auto + red-eye reduction, fill in flash, slow sync and flash off.
Images are recorded as JPEG (DCF), Exif 2.2, DPOF and movies as AVI (MPEG-4) with audio - WAV. Movies can be recorded as 800x600, 640x480, 320x240 and 160x28 (20/30/15fps) and the Samsung S1050 has a movie stabiliser function which helps to keep recording steady. Movies can also be edited on camera to enable you to keep the parts you want and images can be trimmed, resized and rotated. Shots can be viewed on the 3" colour TFT LCD monitor and played back as single image, thumbnail, movie clip and slide show.
The Samsung S1050 has an accessories effect button which gives access to special effects such as special colour, colour (black & white, sepia, negative, custom, red, green and blue) and fun (highlight, cartoon, sticker, composite, photoframe). As well as easy to use manual controls the Samsung S1050 also has special scene choices of night, portrait, children, landscape, beach & snow, dawn, sunset and fireworks.
2x AA alkaline batteries power the Samsung S1050 which has an internal memory of approximately 45MB and works with SDHC/MMC/SD card which can give up to 4GB memory.
