The DSC-H1 Cybershot has 12x optical zoom lens together with a digital zoom of 24x and a smart zoom of 48x and its macro mode can let you come as near as 2cm to your subject. As this is an extended zoom camera it comes with image stabilisation.

I have now had this camera for 12 months so have gone through all the seasons. I find it a perfect tool creating some fab pictures. Bought it instead of the then new H2 as I could see little difference in that model for its increased pric tag Indeed the larger screen of the H1 is a distinct advantage. I would recommend this camera for either point and shoot or more in depth photography to amateur or pro alike. Thank you for reading this ...hope it proves useful

Wow! what a camera i have to say i hummed & arred a little before buying this camera as it was not as compact as we intended. Whoever the fast 12x zoom and optical IS producing sharp pictures more than compasates. Macro photos are great and easy to capture. I have had many cameras over the years including 35mm SLRs and digital compacts but the results from this camera are the best by far. There is a mild amount of purple fringing around light objects but not noticeable unless cropped 100%. Build quialty, handling, menus, large LCD and feature list are all impressive. All in all if you can still get one you will not regret it and will be rewarded with good quailty pictures straight out of the box. It is also a doddle to use even for the kids.

Read as many reviews as I could find and decided to buy the DSC H1 - no regrets so far. This is an extremely easy camera to use, you don't have to be super intelligent as the menu is easy to move around in. I was impressed at its speed and the clearness of the photographs I have taken up to now. The large LCD screen is a big help as it shows the image very clearly. Also because the H1 is not ultra light it helps me to keep a steady hand when taking a shot. I have added tele-angle lens to my kit to give me even more scope.

My daughter asked for a digital camera for her 18th birthday, we bought her a DSC H1 and she has been thrilled with it.
She took photographs and a video at her party and they are very impressive, especially as she doesn't have loads of experience.

Haven't found any downsides yet.
Nice style, easy to use, speedy, good low light performance and already I have amassed a great collection of superb quality pictures. It downloads to my desktop in a flash.
Great idea to use AA batteries, small in size and easy to find.
Above all - excellent results.

I am a football fanatic so decided to buy the DSC H1 as I had read that it was well equipped to take sporting shots. It has not disappointed me and I always take it with me when going to matches. Another sport I enjoy watching is darts and I have now discovered that this camera takes excellent photos whether they are shot indoors or outdoors. The camera build is good and I find it very comfortable to hold with the grip on the right hand side. This, together with the image stabilisation, eliminates any shaky hand effect. Have not tried the scene modes yet but probably will when I go on my holidays soon.

I am chuffed to bits with my new camera. I don't have a lot of experience but I do find this one easy to operate and have been well impressed with the quality of my photos. Currently I am doing a project on gardens (wildlife and plants) and have been experimenting with the zooms and macro with great results. It's useful to clearly see my image on the large LCD screen. Have only taken one or two indoor shots so far and the flash seems to be highly effective.
