Sony DSC-W100 Cybershot Review

The Sony DSC-W100 Cybershot is a compact digital camera with an aluminium body offering 8.1 megapixel Super HAD CCD, Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens and a variable digital Smart Zoom of up to 15x at VGA resolution.

More precise shots are achievable with the DSC-W100 Cybershot as it has High ISO Sensitivity (80/100/200/400/800 and 1250) with White Balance choices including auto, cloudy, daylight, fluorescent and incandescent.

The Sony DSC-W100 has a built-in flash with five features together with an intensity adjustment. Flash modes include Auto, forced, slow synchro and red-eye reduction. There is also a setting which enables you to choose light metering - multi, centre or spot.

The Sony DSC-W100 has automatic, programme and manual exposure modes which offer you the choice of selecting yourself or choosing from preset programmes where the relevant settings for the scene have already been made. The preset programmes include; twilight, beach landscape and soft snap. The Sony DSC-W100 Cybershot also offers a creative colour mode selection. Movies with sound can be recorded on the DSC-W100 which is DPOF and PictBridge compatible.

The DSC-W100 Cybershot records in JPEG and MPEG1 format and has an internal memory of 64MB, a Memory Stick Duo slot and will indicate storage remaining. Images can be viewed on the 2.5" TFT LCD monitor with slideshow playback.

The Sony DSC-W100 Cybershot digital camera is powered by one rechargeable Li-Ion battery (Stamina) pack (charger included within the package) which gives a longer life and has a power remaining indicator.

Not had this digital camera for long but already I am greatly impressed by the quality of the pics. It is easy to hold, easy to use and takes the picture as soon as I press the button.

It is not a cheap camera but if someone wanted to get into digital photography this would be an excellent choice.

The longer battery life and 64MB of memory persuaded me to go for this one and I have no complaints so far.

Photo quality is excellent both for indoor and outdoor shots and the pictures are so good that I have been able to blow up to 16 x 20 without any loss of precision.

The majority of photographers would enjoy using this camera provided the cost was suitable to them in the first place.

Love the shape and compactness and the fact that it is pretty instant. My photos are the best I have ever managed to take, flash is good, enough choices for me to stay focused and a better than most memory.
