Sony DSC-W55 Cybershot Review

A compact and stylishly designed camera with a brushed aluminium face, the Sony DSC-W55 Cybershot offers 7.2 megapixel Super HAD CCD, 3x optical zoom, 6x digital zoom, up to 14x smart zoom and Carl-Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens.

Having ISO 1000 high sensitivity (REI), the Sony DSC-W55 Cybershot produces quality pictures even when shot in low light conditions and the Real Imaging Processor ensures improved picture quality and high speed operation. 2cm macro allows for close-up shooting and there is a choice of preset scene modes including; twilight, twilight portrait, landscape, snow and beach.

The ISO range is auto/100/200/400/800, White Balance has auto, daylight, cloudy, incandescent, fluorescent and flash modes include; auto, forced flash, slow syncro and red-eye reduction. The Sony W55 Cybershot has an AF illuminator.

Indicators on the DSC-W55 Cybershot include; hand shake alert, battery remaining, exposure warning and disk/memory stick remaining. The Sony DSC-W55 has an internal memory of 56MB and is compatible with Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo High Speed and Memory Stick PRO-HG D. The battery included with this camera is Lithium NP-BG1 which has a stamina life of approximately 380 shots/190 minutes and, in addition, a rechargeable pack and charger are also within the package.

The Sony DSC-W55 Cybershot has an optical viewfinder and images can be viewed on the bright 2.5" TFT LCD screen with approximately 100% field of view. Playback is slideshow with image rotation and images can be trimmed and resized.

The Sony DSC-W55 Cybershot is PictBridge compatible for direct connection to a printer without involvement of a PC.
